Helping You Advocate for a School Experience Where Your Child Truly Belongs

IMG_8202.jpg

I'm Sarah

A former special education teacher and the founder of The Holland Guide Advocacy. I’ve sat at the IEP table in multiple roles as a teacher, case manager, parent partner, and IEP advocate, giving me a clear understanding of how decisions are made within the special education system and where families often get lost in the process. I work with families to bring clarity, support, and confidence to the IEP process so parents don’t feel alone when making decisions about their child’s education.

YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE

You suspect your child may need special education services and don't know where to start

You’re preparing for an IEP meeting or have received a plan and aren’t sure if it truly reflects your child’s needs

You’re concerned your child’s needs are not being fully met at school or that support may not be appropriate

You need help interpreting goals, services, and data during meetings and making sense of what’s being discussed

The Holland Guide Values

What Makes My Approach Different

My
Story

The Holland Guide was inspired by the poem, Welcome to Holland by Emily Perl Kingsley.

My mission is to help parents navigate “Holland” with confidence by offering advocacy, resources, and support that empower families to embrace the beauty and uniqueness of this unexpected journey.

Sarah brings her expertise to a broader audience through The Holland Guide Advocacy, extending beyond her role within the school system and Special Olympics. She's a champion of inclusion, dedicated to enriching experiences for individuals with special needs. Her deep understanding of special education provides families and educators with the insight and foresight needed to create the best possible educational plan for their children and students. Sarah's goal is to maximize their educational experience and promote inclusion, ensuring they can learn and participate alongside their peers.
